A classic recipe for the best way to top a biscuit!
Ingredients
- 1 pound Bob Evans Original Recipe Sausage Roll
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- 8 prepared biscuits
Directions
Crumble and cook sausage in large skillet over medium heat until browned. Stir in flour until dissolved. Gradually stir in milk. Cook gravy until thick and bubbly. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot over biscuits. Refrigerate leftovers.

I came across this recipe when I bought a roll of Bob Evans sausage. So easy to make; and when I served it to my daughter, she said it was the best sausage gravy she ever had. We prefer to have a lot of gravy in the mixture, so I used 1/2 pound of sausage instead of the full pound. We felt like there was still enough sausage, and the gravy was very creamy and tasty.

I use above recipe BUT have changed it up I call it "eggs Billy-Bob" kind of a country eggs Benidict. you start with one biscuit open put a ham slice over that then a fried egg on each I like mine cooked med. then spoon sausage gravy over the top. This could also be added to the menu

This is an easy recipe to make. Goes great with some of my hens fresh scrambled eggs and hot biscuts. I think that you could use half the roll and save the rest for some delicious sausage patties to go with some fresh eggs tomorrow morning. But if you really like alot of meat in your sausage gravy go ahead and use the whole roll.

I make this for a large group of men and the one trick I find that works well is to heat the milk ( not to boil ) , drain some of the fat from the sausage stir in the flour then add the milk and heat and stir to the consistency you want. This way only one pot is necessary.........

This is the simplest gravy to make & it is FABULOUS on fresh biscuits! My husband does a happy-dance when he smells this stuff cooking. I've read some recipes that tell you to take the sausage out of the pan when you add flour, but sprinkling the flour directly over the sausage makes a nice, smooth (not lumpy) gravy. Delish!

If we need a real super hearty breakfast I'll make some scrambled eggs with an optional sprinkle of freshly chopped chives in them to go with the biscuits and gravy. My kind of country breakfast for sure!

Everybody LOVED it!!! Almost forgot to add: another co-worker cannot have gluten (which would be in the flour) so I thickened with cornstarch instead and you couldn't tell the difference! It was absolutely delicious!! I will definitely make this sausage gravy again. But in a much smaller portion for home. LOL

Tastes just like my grandma always made. And so easy. We use chicken sausage since none of my girls eat mammals. Make the gravy a bit creamier with extra milk, and add lots of pepper for the added bite. A touch of sriracha fires it up even more.

I've always loved sausage gravy and biscuits at restaurants, and I even had a good recipe for homemade biscuits that I liked. But I never had a good sausage gravy to complement it, until one day at the grocery store when I was picking out some sausage and found a Bob Evans roll with this recipe on the back. I tried it right away, as I had the other two staple ingredients at home, and the result was as simple and tasty as it looks.

There are no Bob Evans in Texas. BUT I do have family in Ohio that are on there way here today. They are bringing me 12 pounds of Bob Evans Original Sausage. I will freeze most of it. While they are here, we will certainly make Sausage Gravy. The stuff we get here is GROSS. Won't bother ordering anywhere else from now on. I will just make it myself.
